Coverage

Don't let unexpected accidents ruin your Dominican Republic getaway. Say yes to insurance for your rental car.

Your own insurance.

It's important to note that your personal insurance policy does not provide coverage for rental cars in the Dominican Republic. To be sure, we advise you to contact your insurance provider for confirmation.

Credit card or other insurances.

Using your credit card or any other form of insurance for rental car protection may seem like a good idea, but it's risky business. Here's why:

  1. Before us you are personally responsible to pay for all damages or theft to the vehicle, then you’ll go to them to claim for reimbursement, BUT many conditions and limitations apply, such as type of vehicle, length of rental or other sensitive limitations that you may not be aware of.

  2. Claim amount or a portion of it may be denied if proper documentation is not thoroughly submitted.

  3. Time Consuming and hassle; if you see yourself in the event of an accident make sure you have enough time while you are in DR, to go to the Police Department, general’s office or public traffic authority to obtain all required documentation together, and hey… it may take you up to 6 months to obtain reimbursement.

  4. Because before us you are responsible to pay for all damages we should to take a Pre-authorization for the amount of the entire value of the vehicle until is returned, however we will just make a pre-authorization for the amount of US$3,000.00 + the estimate amount of rent. US$3,000.00 dollars is the average dollars cost needed to repair an accident in Dominican Republic.

  5. If you are determined to use your credit card or any other type of insurance we urge you to please consider adding additional coverage to your rental. Ask your rental agent.

  6. If you are determined to use your credit card as a form of insurance a mandatory a 7.95 + taxes will apply for liability insurance and roadside assistance.

  7. Be advice that some credit cards have car rental collision coverage and some don’t. It is the responsibility of the card holder to ensure the benefit is valid. We assume no responsibility for the accuracy or the validity of credit card benefits. This coverage is between you and the credit card company.
